Recently, the selection of ceramic present of the Ministry of Education organized by Jingdezhen Ceramic University was successfully completed, "Flying Apsaras of Dunhuang" by Mr. Chen Shaoyue from the School of Art and Design was selected as the present of the Ministry of Education to the headquarters of UNESCO. On February 20, Chen Jie, Vice Minister of Education, presented "Flying Apsaras of Dunhuang" to Audrey Azoulay, Director-General of UNESCO, at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris, France.
"Flying Apsaras of Dunhuang" is the highly representative artistic image of China and the essence of Chinese traditional mural art. It's graceful body and smooth lines are full of rhythmic vitality. The work integrated the flying apsaras image in Dunhuang murals into modern porcelain type with Jingdezhen's classic high-temperature underglaze red painting technology. The image is charming, elegant and classic, reflecting the significance of Dunhuang, the meeting place of Eastern and Western cultures along the Silk Road, and showing the unique charm of Chinese culture and art.
