Talk to foreign "Jingpiao": Robert

Original By: Hu Shudi, Huang Qiaojun

“I love Jingdezhen because Jingdezhen ceramic is so famous and it's so traditional. It is a center where most of traditional artists and international artists they come together then they do the creation, and through that I happen to learn a lot from them.”

Robert from Uganda is an international student at Jingdezhen Ceramic University. He came to Jingdezhen from Africa, which is 8293 kilometers away from China, to learn systematic ceramic knowledge.

Robert's works have a strong personal style, and the collision of the traditional cultures of the two countries has become his inspiration. He is now working on a piece of ceramics that is clearly shaped liked a Chinese tea set with Ugandan decorative patterns - in Ugandan culture, black represents people, blue represents peace, and mask patterns represent peace.

He believes that through ceramics, the two countries have not only had technical exchanges, but also built a bridge between culture and economy.
