Alexander Perlin is a Belarusian artist, was born in Kyiv into a family of architects.  He also followed in the footsteps of his parents, 2006 graduated in architecture and worked at the architectural institute ‘Minsk project’. But soon realized that he didn’t like spending his life in an office in front of a computer. 

At the same time he became interested in Chinese philosophy, Chinese tea and kung fu. In 2009 went to St. Petersburg to study sculpture in Repin institute of fine art. In 2011 his wife and he moved to China which gave him opportunity to get to know a culture that he knew only from books. He working in a different technics but his favorite materials is Chinese paper, ink and black tea. 

He has never studied traditional Chinese painting 'guohua' he using materials based on his own empirical experience. He mostly paint ‘ala prima’, so he use a lot of materials to capture the right emotion, convey the breath of life and the energy of the moment.  He loves going to the mountains, take a tea set with him, find the most beautiful view, make tea and enjoy the view. Then returning in the studio he convey the feeling of those places and views that made a special impression on him, or he simply come up with a landscape based on what he saw on his trip. 

He also like to draw birds, flowers and everything that gives a feeling of harmony with the world around him but the Main theme of his works is the search for knowledge of the essence of human life. He likes to paint portraits of philosophers, Taoists, prophets, poets and just old people who look into eternity and try to understand it.
