Hometown’s Road
In 2013, the A2 highway project undertaken by the Chinese company started construction in Kenya. After the completion of this 260-kilometer-long highway, Lenawalching and his fellow villagers didn’t have to endure the bumps and mud during the journey, and worry the risk of encountering bandits.
In the 10 years since President Xi Jinping proposed the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), BRI has taken root and blossomed in Kenya. The roads built by Zhongmei Engineering Group Ltd. and other units not only improved the living conditions of Lenawalching and the Kenyan people, but also inspired young Lenawalching to participate in the Belt and Road project and devote himself to the construction of his hometown.
In September 2015, Lenawalching went to college with the sponsor of Chinese government. After returning to Kenya, Lenawalching joined the project department of Zhongmei Engineering Group Ltd. and threw into the work of improving the public infrastructure in his hometown with Chinese friends.
Lovely Flower
In 2013, Hakan came to China from Türkiye to study Chinese. When President Xi Jinping proposed BRI, he was keenly aware that it was the right time to start ceramic business.
In the Canton Fair 2014, Hakan met Cheng Linyao, an intangible inheritor of Jingdezhen blue and white porcelain. Hakan, who loves ceramic culture, found his soulmate.
Through Hakan’s trading channels and experience, Cheng Linyao and other ceramic artists in Jingdezhen got to learn the specific needs for porcelain from overseas customers, especially those from jointly-built the Belt and Road countries. As transportation infrastructure such as China-Europe trains becomes more convenient, Jingdezhen ceramics ordered by Hakan are also transported faster and further. Over the years, Hakan has continued to spread Jingdezhen ceramic culture and promote ceramic products to overseas friends.
The series of blue and white porcelain works Lovely Flowers created by the couple, Hakan and Cheng Linyao, symbolize their beautiful love and the cultural exchanges and prosperity. Hakan and Cheng Linyao decided to further explore and promote the ceramic culture of Jingdezhen, making ceramics a never-fading flower of friendship and culture between China and countries participating in BRI.
Dream Chaser
Moses from Ghana is currently a graduate student at East China University of Technology. Due to his yearning for the development of science and technology in China, Moses chose to study electronic science and technology in China instead of following his family's advice to study medicine in Europe after graduating from high school.
Moses worked hard and allowed him to receive the 'Belt and Road' International Student Scholarship. He has also been actively contacting some high schools in Ghana to cooperate with East China University of Technology, to strive for more Ghanaian students to China for study and experience.
While studying in China, one of the most important gains in Moses is his understanding of the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind.
