Taoxichuan Art Center Lecture invited Artist-in-Residence Katarzyna Miściur to present a lecture on the theme of "On ceramic adventure" at 19:30 on Wednesday, 10th July 2024 at the Taoxichuan S3 Multi-media Room(2nd floor）.

The lecture will be about Katarzyna's personal journey into ceramics. Beginning with her beginnings and education, through her fascination with different methods of creation and firing, to her work experience as a potter, and finally describing one of the biggest adventures of her life - becoming a full-time artist. The lecture will tell the story of Katarzyna's personal path to ceramics through photographs of her ceramics, how they have evolved over the years, and photographs taken in the places where she has studied, worked, and created!

This lecture is intended to be an open and interactive sharing session, where audience are encouraged to ask questions and engage at any point.

Katarzyna Miściur

Katarzyn grew up on her parents' farm surrounded by hills, fields and forests, influencing her life and art through a deep and special connection to nature. Importantly, she has found that ceramic materials are most closely associated with nature.

Her favorite technique is sheet making, challenging herself by using the thinnest sheets possible, which makes her work light and delicate - but not fragile. She loves the structures and textures she extracts from nature. Up close, you can notice the extraordinary subtle details in her work.

The Danish landscape has a deep connection to water, its patterns, beach clay, beach textures and cold weather conditions - which inspired her new series Cold Visions.The second major series Katarzyna has created is called Urban Tissue. is a response to the issue of human impact on the natural environment.
