#1 About the Exhibition

When I first arrived in Jingdezhen, China, I planned to create work about architecture and people. This was driven by the belief that people—artists, craftsmen, and everyone contributing to the efficient operation of this vibrant community—are the creators of it all. However, I knew that along the way, I would be inspired and that something would change—whether it be the final shape, decoration, or color.

After spending two months in China and observing my surroundings, I began to notice the light. It was usually the evening or early morning light that caught my attention, whether I was walking around the city or taking short trips to the Jingdezhen countryside. I was inspired by all the colors created by the sun and rain: the mist covering the mountains, the pink and purple sky at dusk, the yellow and orange light of early morning. And all the people affected by this light.

As a result, my work features silhouettes of people—either figurative elements, like hands or heads, or entire figures (as in "Clay Man")—built from "urban structures" that I developed. These structures represent a fusion of two worlds: the world of people and the city they built. Each figurative piece is covered with colors that tell the story of light.

Moreover, the colors of the piece called "Clay Man" were influenced by a beautiful dance performance called "Only This Green," which I had the chance to see at Jingdezhen Theatre.
