The Lecture will invite the artist - Yuh Sunkoo. On 24th October 2024, Thursday afternoon at 15:00, he will present a lecture entitled "Mundane Life" at Jingdezhen Vocational University of Art-Room 103, Building 8.
Sunkoo Yuh's sculptures are reflections of "stacked histories," drawing from personal experiences and daily encounters. In this lecture, Yuh delves into his artistic journey, exploring his cultural background, influences, relationships, and concerns. He will particularly focus on his porcelain sculptures and monumental architectural sculptures.
This lecture is intended to be an open and interactive sharing session, where audience are encouraged to ask questions and engage at any point.
Yuh Sunkoo
Yuh lived in Korea for 30 years and then settled in the United States for 25 years, a change he found troubling, and so we see in his work a mixture of Eastern and Western images, a juxtaposition of past and present figures, and a coexistence of religious and mythological portraits. The images in his works are grotesque, abstract but logical.
