Taoxichuan Art Centre Lecture will invite the artist - IDRIS OLABODE OPEYEMI. On 23th November 2024, Saturday evening at 19:00, he will present a lecture entitled "THE HANDS THAT SHAPE US: A Crafting Journey Through Life And Soul" at Taoxicuan Glass Studio - Hot Glass Performance Hall.
This lecture explores the essential role of hands in shaping both the material world and our inner lives. Hands, as the primary link between body and mind, serve as tools for creation, connection, and self-expression. Through the process of craftsmanship—especially in pottery—hands bring our ideas to life, transforming raw materials into meaningful objects. The lecture will cover three stages of existence—before, during, and after life—revealing how hands not only shape clay but also shape us.
By examining the hands as mirrors of the soul and instruments of healing, this talk will invite the audience to reflect on the spiritual and philosophical power of craftsmanship. Through the act of shaping, hands bridge the physical and metaphysical, embodying resilience, presence, and artistry in every movement. The audience will leave with a deeper understanding of how hands connect our intentions with the outer world, shaping both objects and our own identity.
This lecture is intended to be an open and interactive sharing session, where audience are encouraged to ask questions and engage at any point.
