On February 19th, 2025, the New Archaeological Discoveries of 2024 in China were announced in Beijing. Six findings were recognized as the most significant discoveries of the year, including the site groups of porcelain making from the Yuan (1271-1368), Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties in Jingdezhen of Jiangxi province, the Dadong Site in Helong of Jilin province, the Xiatang Site in Xianju county of Zhejiang province.Jingdezhen City is an important porcelain production region in China, with numerous relics of porcelain kiln sites located throughout the area. Last year, excavations were carried out on 14 archaeological sites, focusing on the development of the ceramic industry in the town area, the sources of raw materials, fuel sources, the road transportation network and the diverse religious beliefs associated with the area.The archaeological excavations at sites like the Imperial Kiln Factory have revealed its historical evolution of the area during the Ming and Qing dynasties. They have also shed light on the development of the private kilns in the town area from the Southern Song Dynasty to modern times. Additionally, excavations of the transportation networks in locations such as Liujia Lane have unveiled how the porcelain industry has transformed the urban landscape of Jingdezhen.
